I was in 6th gear at 65mph when my car started vibrating and making a noise like going over road strips for about 5 seconds and then resumed normal operation. When I reached my destination I had no reverse gear or sensation of shifting into reverse. The rest of the car performs normally and I went straight to my Chevy dealer. The car has only 31K miles and is not driven hard. The transmission was serviced in December. Has anyone experienced this kind of failure or know of a recall or service bulletin on this issue?
Thanks very much for any guidance.
I have not heard of this, but maybe you should post this in the C5 section to see if they have.
Did your shifter bounce around at all when this was happening? 5th/6th and reverse are on the same shift shaft assembly. If something went wrong with that I would think the shifter would have been dancing a little while the sound was going on. I am curious to hear what they find.
No, the car just started shaking like going over those strips on the side of the road for about 5 seconds and then stopped. It is at the shop waiting a diagnosis. I am hoping Chevrolet will take care of me.
What does "serviced" mean? If you're saying it was removed & disassembled for some reason, my guess is it wasn't "serviced" correctly. If you're just saying the fluids were changed, that shouldn't cause the mechanical failure that would loose reverse.
