Who knows some straight poop about Thunder Racing heads and cams? A Thunder Racing in town shows really good numbers with their TTP? heads and Thunder Racing cam. They also have a LS1-edit to work with the computer.
Questions is.........should I :
(1) go with these guys,
(2) go 4 hours to Houston for MTI work, or
(3) buy Cartek and have locals do the work? Thunder won't put in a Cartek product so I don't know who can do LS1-edit work in Baton Rouge.
I would DEFINITELY feel comfortable with going to Thunder Racing! I have been buying parts from them since January '99, and they've always been GREAT. They have some heads/cam cars that have left their shop with 440 RWHP! They're a top-notch shop that will do excellent work. You also can't beat Geoff's LS1 Edit tuning on the dyno. He's been making some great power with his tuning skills, and it will make your car a lot more enjoyable to drive. I'd go with Thunder Racing in a heartbeat.
That's great news! I wonder why we NEVER hear about Thunder Racing on this forum. You would think they didn't exist.
Thunder Racing is 5 minutes from my house. It's were I get my nitrous. I have been thinking about stage II head/cam for more power than my Rippie head/cam for months and never really considered Thunder. I guess it's because I'm on this forum most nights.
Thanks again. It'll make my decision really easy unless I hear negatives later on this thread.

Re: Thunder Racing H/C???????????? (jpvette)
I was going to have Thunder install my new Borla stingers but there so busy that they couldn't get to it any time soon. If their that busy they must be doing something right.
I saw your car run at No Problem at the corvette event and it's very fast to begin with. If you decide to use them please post your results.
I don't know if you remember me, but I met you at Thunder awhile back when your son was working for Tommy @ Lightning. I drive the red Trans Am w/ skinnies on it all the time. :) David took me for a ride in your car and it was impressive to say the least.
I was previously running the GTP heads and a custom Thunder Racing solid roller. The car dynoed 442rwhp and ran 11.16@125.59 in January, all motor. The heads are second to none in the LS1 market and the Thunder cams are making great power. It is one real nice combo!
Stop by the shop and discuss the setup with us. We would be more than willing to go over anything you have questions on.
Shoot me an email or give me a call at the shop if you an specific questions.

They have an excellent reputation with the F-body guys-- I know that they're an excellent tuner-- they just haven't really marketed for the C5-- if they have, I sure haven't seen any of it...

:yesnod: I bought some sub frame connectors from them when I had my Z28 back in late 97 or 98. They have a very good reputation in f-body circles. I don't know why they haven't tried to get in the Corvette market. Also they have run several group purchases for the f-bodies.
