Default NAPA Ultra Premium Rotors

I need to replace all rotors and pads on my '02 Coupe, so I researched the NAPA Ultra Premium Rotors and Adaptive One-Ceramic Pads. Has anyone had any problems with these? Are the pads noisy? I found mixed reviews, though none were from corvette people.

Thanks,
Dave

Just installed the Napa Ultra Premium rotors on my 98 coupe, have about 250 miles since installation and all's well. As for pads, used the Wagner ThermoQuiet pads. Have used these on two of my other vehicles with favorable results, no noise, no noticeable dusting and wear has been excellent. Looking forward to the same results on the Vette.

The Napa rotors should come with the painted top hats, vent edge, and rear hub. They are sourced out of Canada and China. One of my rotors was unpainted and mfg'd in Canada, I returned it for another that was painted. Might want to check them all before leaving the shop.

What are you paying for those NAPA rotors. One of the forum vendors, TPS I think, has all four shipped for 239. Zinc coated, and your choice of drilled and slotted, drilled and dimpled or just slotted.

Napa rotors are maybe by Raybestous. Raybestous makes just about all the rotors no matter what name is on the box or what county they come from.

and forget the zinc coatings. The zinc must come OFF the rotor face for the brakes to work well.

Same with ceramic brake pads. Ceramic brake pads ( except the carbotech ) are not for performance cars and performance stopping. If you need an emergence stop, ceramics can take up to 25% to longer to stop your car.

Get the plan sided Raybestous rotors and some Carbotech brake pads

Paid $230 for the Napa Ultra Premium's (limited life time warranty) Looked at the TPS and decided to go with a full rotor surface, plus the shop is local in case I run into a warranty issue.

For street use,I would use this pad. F $144 R $124 -7%.

The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser, and has won multiple SCCA Solo 2 and Prosolo National Championships. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. Bobcat 1521™ compound has also been found to extend the life of your rotors 2-3 times. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

John. Life time is 3 track events for the fronts and 5 track events for the rears, or 150,000 miles of normal driving.

how do they know about track events?

I bought lifetime PFC pads for my dooley from Autozone after 6 sets in the front and 4 ( 100,000 miles +) in the rear they refused to to give me anymore. I didn't push it because they said no commercial use and my truck is registered in my business name. Good while it lasted. Wanger Severe Duty pads are much better but no warranty.

Rotors are China or Brazil these days. Not really any from the US or Canada any more

I have had NAPA rotors made in the US, Canada and China. All last about the same on the track. When the production was switched to China a few years ago NAPA added the paint on the rotor center and edges. The rotors made in the US and Canada weren't painted. Once production moved to China prices increased a lot.

The last time I used GM C5 rotors they were made in Brazil. The NAPA units lasted as long as the GM rotors and were much cheaper at the time I switched to them.

I work part-time for Advance Auto Parts, and 99% of the rotor boxes are marked "made in China". The other 1%, I'm not sure, simply because I don't want to go out on a limb and make a blanket statement like "they all are".....

Blame the EPA for shutting down the US and Canadian foundries. SO no American or Canadian made iron parts
