Default 04 Coupe Bose stereo speaker diagram

Anyone have a diagram or know what all components there are behind the dash. I need to know if there is anything feeding the front door speakers besides the head unit? I have an 04 coupe. Having a popping issue with the front right speaker and the dealer says it's the head unit. I think they are full of it. HELP!!!

So according to the diagram there is two speakers per door? One is a sub? Hmm I wonder if the sub is causing the popping problem I am having??? Thanks for posting the diagrams.

There's an amp under the dash also.

It's not an Amp, it's the Bose Signal Processor that feeds the Sub Amps in the doors.

I doubt that's your problem. Swap the left and right speakers, see if the problem moves to the other side. If you're local I'll loan you one to try, then you won't have to take off but one door panel.

Actually............there are three amplifiers in the Bose system. One in each door, and one inside the signal processor.........

OK Lucky, I'll take your word for it. The Signal Processor has low level audio IN, and low level audio OUT. So looks as if any amplification is taking place in the Processor itself, would probably be just enough to make up for any loss incured in the unit. Not being able to see a schematic, this is just speculation on my part. But you'll keep me straight, ok?

You don't have to take my word for it bro.....here's a bit from the service manual:

Delco-Bose System

The Delco-GM/BOSE® audio system is an advanced automotive sound system that is tuned to the interior of the vehicle. The six speakers in four locations, two amplifiers in the forward speaker locations, and an amplifier incorporated into a signal processor are designed to deliver acoustically customized sound. The following are considered in the customization of the sound:

The shape of the windows.
The location of the windows.
The type of upholstery.
The type of carpeting.
The position of the passengers.
The result is a carefully calculated distribution of sound. The sound does not seem to come only from the speaker which results in a resemblance of a live concert performance.

If the electrolytic capacitors in the door panel sub amps are defective they can cause popping. Take Byron up on his offer and swap in a speaker first. Spare parts are always a plus..

By the way,,, If the CAPS are bad, there easily replaced if there not encased in resin.

The dealer said he replaced the speaker in the door but did not tell me which one it was. I need to go find out. Thanks for all the inputs everyone, this really helps me out. The dealer is trying to give up on my issue already but let's hope they do the right thing.

Holy Smokes! Pull the close out panel under the drivers side dash. Look straight up under the foot well in the area above the accelerator peddle. Its the silver box mounted in that area. That easy.

I will PM you my address.

One thing - I have heard since posting that removal of the Bose Signal Processor causes an error code. Will this be a problem?

You will get a RADIO, NO COMMUNICATIONS (NO COMMS ) message when you read the DTCs but,, it will NOT effect any other stsytem or emissions systems status codes.

I already have that code (or something similar) since I pulled the stereo - so I suppose no difference. Good to know!
