Car runs for a few seconds then shuts off - HELP!
#21
So after you cleared all the codes and then restarted the car and let it idle and eventually stall the only codes that came back were the codes you reported as Current. ie C0710, P1571, B0017, B0026, U1040 and B0051??? None of the H codes are back??
It's not VATS. Vats will prevent the car from starting but not kill it once it is running.
When the engine dies is it an instant stall or does it slowly shut off ( ie over a second or 2 like it was running out of fuel. If it dies instantly I suspect electrical. If it slowly dies I would suspect fuel pressure. Could be bad grounds, poor battery connections (corrosion or loose cables at the battery or starter) or the ignition switch or lock cylinder is bad. Try this several times to see if you can recreate the symptoms. Start the engine and let it idle. Then play around with the ignition key. Wiggle it up and down and from side to side. (Try not to turn it to the off position as you play around with the key) I have a buddy with a 99 that has the engine stall if you touch the ignition switch and when driving if you hit a bump the engine stalls. Pull to the side of the road and it starts right back up. Similar to what yours is doing. Here are some links to look through about the ignition switch. First is a diagnosis thread, second is how to remove the switch and third is repairing the ignition switch:

Check the grounds as well. Here is a thread about grounds:

Car runs for a few seconds and shuts off
So the issue is the car is a full custom. What is an issue with the C5 does not always transfer over. Custom 65 vette body, full 2000 C5 suspension, custom aluminum chassis, full 2000 C5 wiring and dash (less air bags), 2000 C5 ECM and wiring, 04 LS6 with a Vortech supercharger, 2000 six speed, BCM, Door modules, etc. The car ran without the supercharger and door modules, but with them runs for 5 seconds and shuts off, security light comes on solid, injectors still pulse, fuel pump still runs, spark continues, just dies. It may be the door modules (not all the switches, etc are connected), may be blower, etc. But I thought I would ask to see if I could use some of the info. No ECM codes, No BCM codes. Thanks for the info anyways. Mike

Hey Daws222000,
Did you ever get your issue fixed? I have the same problem but have no codes at all. I had a code for the MAF one time, replaced it does the same thing still.
I was gonna PM you but this forum wont let me do that for some reason.
