C5Z '02 tranny oil change... do I have the right oil?
I am getting ready to do a tranny oil change. I just want to confirm I have the right oil and enough oil... So here is what I am going to use,
Do I have the right oil and correct quantity (1 Gallon)?
Thank you very much for your help!
Out of curiosity... what is the spec as to how often/miles this needs to be changed?

There are no specs in regards to tranny fluid change out.
I suggest if you road race or 1/4 mile your car to change it out at least once a year. But of course, that's only MY opinion.
It was suggested by an Amsoil vendor that has a Z 06 & drives his car hard to use Amsoil Torque Drive Synthetic Transmission Fluid (ATD1G)
You will have approximately 3/4 to an 1" of fluid left in the bottom of a gallon jug, when the tranny is properly filled.
In regards to the rear differential Amsoil recommends :
Severe Gear 75w-90 Synthetic EP Lubricant (SVGQT)

Z06ster,
The fluid you have is fine and I used that fluid for many years in my track day 02 Z06. The spec for the manual C5 Z06 tranny is Dexron III and that is clearly labeled on that fluid you have. Tranny will take about 3.5 quarts, so gallon is perfect.
That said, the fluid you have is a few years old (based on the name). AMSOIL rates its fluids for a 5 year shelf life, so again, you are fine using it.
A few years ago I queried AMSOIL on which one of their two ATFs that met Dexron III specs was actually best for our trannies. They took a hard look at it and switched from recommending the Universal ATF that you have as primary and the Torque Drive ATF as secondary to the opposite (Torque Drive ATF primary Universal ATF secondary). Since then they have renamed the Universal ATF the Multi-Vehicle ATF (which is why I can tell yours is a few years old).
Summary of all that - use the fluid - it is a great fluid and I used it for about 3-4 years in mine before switching to the Torque Drive.
For others following this thread, here are the fluids AMSOIL now recommends for the Z06 (and I use):
Tranny: AMSOIL Torque-Drive Synthetic Transmission Fluid (Product Code ATD1G)
Diff: AMSOIL Severe Gear Extreme Pressure Synthetic 75w90 (Product Code SVGQT)
(has additive and the C5 Z06 doesn't need extra to prevent diff chatter)
AMSOIL specs the Universal ATF you have for 50k miles in severe service. My personal thumbrule for street use is more like 30k and for the track I follow the same thumbrule that bumble-z recommended: about once a year.
For those interested in trying any AMSOIL fluids, I'm happy to get them for you at dealer wholesale, about 25% below retail, via the AMSOIL Preferred Customer Program. Drop me a PM if interested.
