Default Still need advice!! CREAKING FRONT SUSPENSION

Still having some creaking noice when going through dips and/or over bumps in the road. Stronger on the passenger side and I can make the car creak when pushing down on the front end. It is a 2000 hardtop with 77K on it. I just upgraded the end links to metal ones, all control arm bushings look good. Shocks look original so could these be the problem?? I haven't disconnected them to see if I can replicate the sound with them disconnected yet. Any thoughts out there?????

Thanks!!

Since you can reproduce the noise, by jouncing the front end...get the front end up on ramps....have someone jounce, while you pinpoint the origin.

If you haven't aready checked, make sure the front cradle bolts are at proper torque.

Default Still creaking

Lubed sway bar bushings and checked bolts, still creaking. It appears to do it only on up and down motion from what I can tell. Took it out an simulated going through tire warm up by zig zagging back and forth and no creaking. Anymore suggestions out there????

I can tell you on my 99 coupe I changed to c6 zr1 swaybars with poly bushings and metal endlinks and I no longer had that creaking sound you are describing. Before I did this my car would make the creak when I pulled in to garage because it was about 1 3/4" elevated from the driveway. The endlinks were shot in my case but the feel of it new when I got it all done was really tight and no rolls. I was not able to reproduce this creak by pushing down on the rear or front, this led me to not believe it was due to my Bilstein HD shocks I put in a year before. Maybe yours is due for shocks did you check tire wear?

Default still creaking

Tire wear normal and as mentioned earlier I just installed the metal end links. Keep the suggestions coming.

you need to replace or grease the bushings on your sway bars.

For under 200 bux you can upgrade to z06 or z51 sway bars.

If it is easy enough for you. Take off the sway bar and try it. That will eliminate that from the equation. After that if it is still the try some grease on the spring bushing at the control arm mating surface. After that I would lean towards shocks.

Default creaks

As I mentioned earlier, lubed the sway bar bushings but nothing changed. I will now try today or tomorrow the spring bushings as mentioned above on the control arms.

Try wrapping swaybar with white silicone pipe tape.
Make sure endlinks are properly torqued.

did you put the new end links on while the tires or suspension was loaded or unloaded ?

ie were the tires on the ground / lift deck or hanging free?

if they the tires were hanging free, there is your problem.

Sway bar attachment should be done when the tires on on a lift platform

Good Luck

Using wheel bearing grease will be a temporary fix. The noise will come back. What works and last for much longer is the white Teflon pipe tape. If you warp the sway bar where the bushing rides the noise will be gone and stay that way.

I agree. I used this on my car and a friends and haven't heard a peep since. It is also much cleaner and there is no mess. Some greases may not be compatible with the bushing either, and the Teflen tape eliminates that concern.
