Borla Introduces New C5/C5 Z06 Touring, S-Type, ATAK Exhaust
Hello all, this is Chris Higgins with Borla Exhaust (www.borla.com) in Oxnard, CA. We’re pleased to announce the release of several new parts for the C5/C5 Z06 Corvette.
In our continuous R&D push to better ourselves and our products, we’ve re-engineered our Touring, S-Type, and ATAK exhaust systems. While the Touring and ATAK kits will be replaced with new part numbers, we will continue to offer our Classic S-Type sound. Whether you have the automatic or manual, the coupe or convertible; we’ve improved the overall sound quality both inside and outside the cabin. You’ll hear our newly enhanced & amplified exhaust note at any RPM, in any gear.
While we don’t have a video clip yet, I’ll keep you updated when we are able to make one. Thanks for your continued feedback, enthusiasm, and interest in our products!!

If you send me the 140427 series, I would be more than happy to make a video and give my feedback... I figure it is worth a shot at least. My budget at the moment won't allow me to just purchase them.

My thoughts exactly! I'd also pick one up in a heartbeat if I could get some feedback or sound clips from someone who actually purchased and installed the system on there C5 Corvette.

I finally gave up on this system, and went with their regular S-style stingers. I must say, I am extremely happy with the mufflers. I do not get any drone at all while cruising on the interstate. That being said, I have a stock engine with a 6-speed, and bought the system used. I would expect they would be louder with mods and more power (Z06).

So what is "improved"
It looks like the S-type II system has gone to the muffler setup a la stock vs and inline bullet type style of the stinger exhaust.
It would be nice if you gave some coimparative sound levels between the three levels, as well as any comments on horsepower comparison between the three and the "old generation"

I had the S-II catback system installed on my C-5 at the Bloomington show. I have a 2004 coupe. Outside the car they sound OUTSTANDING, but inside they drone terribly in the 1500 to 1800 RPM range. The engineer at the show assured me they would not do that, but they most certainly do. They demonstrated the system on a C-6 at the show and I sat inside while it was reved to different levels, but without the car being under load, you really couldn't hear the drone. Once on the road it's a whole different story.

I absolutely love my S-Type II / X-Pipe Set up. No Drone!!!! I get tons of compliments on the sound from those outside and those who have been inside for a drive can't believe how the sound seems to disappear at highway cruising speeds. I have had other after market setups on other vehicles and this is by far the best of both worlds vicious and aggressive with your foot in it and super subtle and discreet at cruise. The "so called" drone issue has been tuned out so well I feel liked I could comfortably have went with the ATAK. I'll attempt to get some video up soon. Borla did a phenomenal job with this set up and the Borla S-Type II certainly live up to what's advertised.

I called Borla yesterday inquiring about the S-Type II setup because every retailer I called to order from said they were backordered. I asked Borla why this was and they replied " We stopped putting them on the shelves because they were encountering fitment problems". They also said they should have this problem resolved in about 2 to 3 weeks.
