I actually had a kid I grew up with tell me to put glass packs on mine, but they'll burn out at, yea it may be loud as hell but it'll be so raspy and not smooth. You don't want that. Lol

Tried running my GMC pickup without the O2 sensors, absolutley NO power. signal to ecm created a extreme rich or lean condition, cant remember. Anyways then I tried to just take the Cat. Converter off, ran so bad couldnt even get out of the driveway! The only way to do these mods. is to completely reset the ecm, or go old school and eliminate the ecm.

The cheap approach is to simply drop marbles inside your muffler.

I was thinking about doing this as well but leaving the cats in and installing the glass packs behind the cats.

It will leave a gap between the pipes and allow you to see what a MUFFLER LESS C5 sounds like without spending a LOT of cash. I used some longer bolts and some large nuts as spacers. It is LOUD but the sound to me was a bit crude and gutteral.
I did that for a while until I took my car up to RPM and they basically told me I was an idiot (nicely) as it throws those hot exhaust gases directly at the transmission ...

if you want straight pipes, pull the mufflers and weld a pipe between the exhaust tips and the over axel pipe .. I think MercuryMike had a tip to do that back in the day.
