Default pvc tube, left valve cover

I have what I think is a vent tube on my left hand valve cover. It has a molded bend in it that has broken in half. I can not find a name for it, so I can order a part to replace it. Can someone tell me if I am on the right track? The tube runs at the back of the engine and close to the firewall. I do not know where it goes. Any help would be apprecated. The car is a 1998 c5 with a standard motor and auto trans. The tube that is in question, has oil vapor comming from it. Thanks

It is the PCV tube. It connects the driver's side valve cover to the passenger side by routing around the rear of the intake. Finally it "Y"s off and goes to the PCV valve itself which runs back to the intake. You can buy a new one from GM and last I saw, the whole tube assembly includes a new PCV for about $100.

I replaced my PCV lines with plastic tubing from Lowe's at $.12/per foot.
I was a bit worried that it might not be the 'correct' type of tubing.
It is coming up to a year and 20K miles so I guess it's good to go.

Mine also broke and I used an old 90* spark plug boot which fit like a glove.

I was looking at this the other night.

Mine is capped off factory from GM. I wonder why mine is plugged, and other car's have the extra line ?

So then to me it begs the question.

If they deemed it not necessary on later C5's... then can the earlier C5's plug there line off too ?

Mine is a 04 Z06.

I believe its for cars with the LS6 style pcv system. LS1 style still uses the gommet on the valve covers.

Cool. I never knew there was a difference in the LS1 vs LS6 PCV valve system.

Yup, the newer style pcv systems use the valley cover and cap off the rear outlets on the valvecovers

I just saw this... its a Crate LS6 motor.
The drivers cover has the same plug on the head just like my 04 LS6 motor has.

It's your pcv tube. In the corvette not only is there a pcv valve but a lengthy hose attached to it.
