Default Check Engine Light Cataytic Converters

My 1999 C5 has 152,000 miles. Check engine light came on. Dealer said code is for faulty Cataytic Converters. Recommending changing them. Gm price for factory replacements $1700.00. Dealer told me the aftermarkets are made cheaper and won't work correct. Does anyone have any experience using aftermarket Cats? Worried that they might still set the sensor off. Dealer told me the aftermarkets are made cheaper and won't work correct. Does anyone have a brand recommendation that doesn't need modification and work correctly.
Thanks Ira

It would be best if we knew what code you were getting. You do need need the deal for this. Using the below link, check and post up the codes.

Watch the f/s parts section for used exhaust, the stock exhaust sells really cheap, you should be able to pick up a stock x-pipe with the cats for cheap.

I agree, post the codes please. I'm still on my OEM cats in my '99 and I'm at 326k miles...they still work just fine.

Here is the code. 10-pcm P0430 H C

Your assistance is greatly appreciated

Wow! I thought my mileage was high. I have a 6 speed and just changed the clutch because the throughout bearing and Pilot bearing were shot. Disk still had plenty of meat.

P0430 TWC System Low Efficiency Bank 2

It sounds like its got a complaint about the passenger side cat as you know. I'm not an expert on the cats but I believe the rear O2 sensor is the one that determines if the cat is working correctly or not. So, has there been any issues with the car recently such as poor running or performance, eating too much fuel and so on? Were there any other codes? Clear the code and see if it comes back or not.
