Default Step by step radiator cleaning

Didn't see anything right away for a step by step process for cleaning the radiator. I assume you have to remove the upper plastic housing which means the air intake must be removed? Do the fans need to be removed, I would rather not if I can work around them. Any suggestions or things to watch out for like funny plastic connectors ect. Any advice would be appreciated. 2001 ZO6. Thanks

Just took mine out last night. Mine comes out without removing fans. You do have to drain rad first. You can rinse and air it from behind, but to really clean it, it needs to come out. I just lightly drop mine a few times and then spray it with the CRC Green stuff from WM and then rinse again. I do mine about 2x a year as I track mine so it needs all the cooling it can get. My ac has a leak, so I was able to do same with ac condensor last night. It is 100+* here so I waited until about 2:30 to do mine this morning - 71*. I hope I didn't wake up neighbors. I got some discarded screen door screen and am going to make a screen for dd to try to keep some stuff out. Good luck with it.

Thanks guys. Just jumped in and got the shroud removed and then used my air gun with a 90 degree fitting on the end to blow out what I could. Got about 1/4 cup of sand and grit on the floor and gently brushed off the front of the rad. to get the loose stuff. Put it all back together OK and am satisfied with what I got out. If I do it annually should be OK as I've not had any overheating issues but just wanted to do the preventative maintenance. Thanks again.
