Randy Gross:

There is only one set up that will properly hook you up time in and time again. That is the ccw drag rims with et streets and skinnines. Just get over the misery and bite the bullet and buy them and then you are set. This drag set up is proven and has hooked up the fastest C5s in the Country such as Stealth C5 who runs 10.84 on motor and runs 60 ft times of 1.55 launching out of the hole on an M6 at 5000 rpm and Austrian Vette and countles others.

What are you waiting for. Heck, it only $ and 2k isn't to bad for all 4 rims with rubber mounted on them.

I'm also a future customer of CCW--as soon as I have the money, those things will be on my car-- so if you can afford the (VERY REASONABLE) cost of the setup, I highly advise it :smash:

Not having much experience with DR's I was told to run them at 11lbs by the previous owner. I didn't have any trouble with the rims slipping, at least as I could tell by the wheel hop and tire smoke. I don't have roll control so I didn't get the tires very hot which probably really hurt my traction. Since they are 17's and Nitto makes an 18 in a 305, I am going to get them instead. Unless I take Nitrovettes advice which would set me back a while.

I know you are right, but I have been spending money on this car lately like a drunk sailor. I think that I will go with the Nitto's and add my line lock. Can't get the tires hot without it. thanks for the advice.

Urslooow,
The Nittos come in a 305/18 and a line lock is a device that holds the front brake on with a solenoid through a button so you can heat the tires up prior to your run.

Dan brought up a great point. With out a tranny upgrade, I think you will only see a couple of passes.

Have you raced you car before these modifications ? That would be the only way to make a "best guess" for the setup.

"urslow-- the 1.7/6 is the sixty-foot time-- which is the second number right after the response time on the timeslip(which is irellevant for ET, by the way, since the 1/4 time doesn't start clocking until you've travelled 1 foot from the starting line..."

This is not correct, the ET starts as soon as you break the "Stage" beam. This distance is in direct relation to "rollout" and not distance from the starting line.

I got consistant 1.7x with the Nittos when they were new.

Nittos need a thorough burnout to be the most affective.
