Seperating the T-56 from the transaxle???
I am trying to remove the T-56 trans from the rear transaxle. I found 2 14MM bolts at the top and 2 15MM nuts, 1 on each side. I applied a little bit of prying but it's not moving and I suspect there is something else I need to disconnect. Ideas???
thanks!!

Did you loosen the bolt that's under your shifter, controlling the linkage?
Scrap that; I meant the connection between trans and TT.
I just installed a new diff., and there's more than 4 bolts between the two junctions you mention.

The torque tube and shifter are no longer attached to the trans. I just have the trans and transaxle assembly. I'll look for more than 4 bolts. Might be worth noting that I am removing what looks like about a 6 inch adapter from the rear diff, not the "adapter" from the tranny.

There is a stud with a 15mm nut on the bottom up in there. I take it off right after cradle removal because my trans jack would now be in the way. Those top bolts should be 13mm if original bolts. There shouldn't be a 14mm on the entire car.

So to be clear, you are trying to separate the differential from the transmission, correct? The "transaxle" is the whole assembly. And yes, you missed a fastener.......STOP PRYING.

Fortunately, I've been around cars for a few years and generally know that if it doesn't move with just a little force I'm missing something... Just as several of you mentioned tucked up underneath was nut number 5! A little force to seperate the trans from the rear diff and apart it came!!
Thanks for all the help!
BTW: The rear axle assembly and front suspension is going to a 1969 corvette ragtop project that a buddy is doing on a custom made frame...

Can the differential be removed from the trans leaving the trans in the car? Could the suspension cross member be left installed? I've got a small leak between the trans and diff and would like to get it sealed up. I ASSume it's just an o ring in there.
