Hey folks some simple questions. Are LS1 blocks iron or aluminum? What are the differences between corvette and f-body blocks? Can the LS1 be bored out or does it have to be resleaved? Is there an equivelent to the LT4 Hot Cam for the LS1?
Thanks oh knowledgeable ones.
Ls1 is alum.
No difference between f and y body blocks.
Ls1 can be honed .005 through '99 I believe and then .010 max after that. REally needs to be resleeved to get any bore increase.
Yes there is a LS1 and LS6 hot cam.
Hey intel, thanks for the great intellegence, er, information. For an engine rebuild then most likely the block will need resleaved? LS 1 with a hot cam, cool, I am stoked. :yesnod:
for just a simple rebuild, no. You can get a freshen hone and put some serivce pistons in there that are .005 over. But I doubt you would need that on a rebuild now. Just replace the rings.
are the LS6 blocks the same as the 01' and 02' LS1 blocks
I do not think so. I think I heard that there a small lil nooks and crannies that are slightly different. I think Jim Hall was talking about that on his turbo setup. hmmmm
