Default Help with Blackwing installation

I've read the tips forum on Blackwing but for some reason I just can't get the two tabs on the side to go down. Everything lines up just great but those tabs on the duct will not go down and lock back into position. I've been with this about 3 hours and am totally stumped. (OK, I know I'm mechanically challenged but I really want to do this myself - I've got to start somewhere don't I??) Thanks for any help.

I had the same issue when I installed the Blackwing. I did use some lube when I assembled the thing to make sure every thing was bottomed in the rubber sleeves and connectors, but still fought with the air duct. The grommets which retain the air duct fit on plastic studs which are attached to the top radiator shroud. This shroud is plastic as well and not very rigid. By working my fingers under the shroud and pulling it with the studs and grommets up towards the duct I was able to get the thing put together. Try it, it might work. Don't :smash:

I never got mine to seat all the way. It's been that way since the end of March. It's still there, in the same place, every time I open the hood.:)

I left both the hose connectors up top loose, worked the BW back and forth until it settle down on the grommets, and THEN tightened the hose clamps. Took some effort, but it worked!

That's what I had to do to get mine to seat.

I trimmed about 1/4" from the hose that connects to the throttle body to get the whole assembly to settle down. I have the LAPD carbon fiber air bridge though, and the connector to the throttle body is aftermarket.

i had to leave the bands loose and work the whole air bridge down with a back and forth motion as well. initially it did not seat on the airbridge but after loosening the bands and wiggling the whole air intake it seated properly.
