I had the same problem. Another forum member recommended this tool to me. I ordered one last week and it got here (FL from CA) in two days. I didn't have to drop the pan and everything lined up. I did have to buy a new front seal. He has a smaller one for when the seal is in but I wanted more precision.

Can the rear main tool be used with bell housing still attached and engine in car?

Hi Rex,
It would be pretty difficult to do anything with the rear main cover with the bell housing on. So the bell housing would have to be removed.

Thank you,
Christian

I just used both tools recently to install the front and real covers and seals. Works excellent. They are a very snug fit in both covers, but do the trick and make installing the seal a breeze. But don't get so excited when you put the rear cover on that you forget to install the oil galley bar bell.... not that I would ever make that mistake.

I will offer that for the SacCity barbell, the tolerances are VERY VERY tight. There's a note in the instructions that you may need to debur the galley in the block. Honestly you couldn't really feel any burs with your finger, but barbell absolutely wasn't going in. I ended up using a drill bit the size of the galley (5/8" - can't really remember right now), and packed it full of Vaseline to catch any metal shavings. Then I turned it by hand in the galley. Eventually I got it so that the barbell would go in, but it really took some work. Not sure if that's common or if my block was machined on a Friday afternoon, haha.

Anyways, just plan your time accordingly. In the video, it just slides right in. But it didn't go down that way for me.

Thank you for the kind words and your business!
I know the Barbell is a precision fit but this is the first I have herd it wouldn't fit if there were no burs. Its a done deal now now but if you had contacted us I would have recommended that you cut the head off of a 1/4-20 bolt and put that in your drill, then screw the Barbell on and spin it in the drill using some fine sand paper to clean the non O-ring end of the barbell up a bit. Or if that wasn't doable we would have been happy to do one for you and send a special one to you a half thou smaller since the hole in your block seems a tiny bit small for some reason. Maybe the bit they used was worn and ready for changing. Anyway glad it worked out.

Thank you
Christian
