Default Downsides to Used Borla's?

I found some used Borla Quad Tip Stingers for sale on Craigslist for $650, looks like a good deal. Is there a down side to buying them used? They look very nice from what i can see in the pic. Is there anything i should look for before i go to buy them?

They have an unbearable drone at highway speeds.

My first catback was two-tip Stingers that I bought on the forum for $350. You just shine them up, and bolt 'em on.

To the point where I had to swap them out for a different catback. Stingers sound great but, on some setups, the drone is just ridiculous. I have intake/heads/cam/headers and 6-speed so, for a while I would just try and shift out of the rpm range where the drone lived. It made the car undriveable for more than 30 minutes - I would literally get nauseated - so I swapped in a set of Ti's and, finally, GHL Bullets which have virtually no drone.

It seems like there are several different systems that are called Stingers. I have seen the straight through no muffler system called stingers and I have seen a couple of versions of the "S" type that have a muffler called stingers.

They are very different.

I have some of the "S" type that have a mufflers (140038) and although they are much louder than stock I don't notice much drone at highway speeds while cruising. If I push on the gas they get louder.

OR do what I did and just buy the Borla straight pipes for $355 shipped new. I think they sound great and the drone is not bad, IMO. I have an A4 w/ 3.15 gears.

the exhaust note actually changes ever so slightly as they go from brand new - used. if anything, assuming no beating has been done, its almost better used. you get the final sound, lower price, etc.

Similar situation here....

B&B Bullets drone like a mad dog... (Sold)
Friends Borla Stingers droned badly as well... (Did not bother trying).
Stock Ti's.... too quiet. (Sold)
Corsa Touring... too quiet at idle.. no drone (good thing)... nice sound at WOT.... high pitched though. (Sold)

GHL Bullets... Just right ! No drone, Deep sounding, wicked how it brings out the sound of my cam iat idle...
