Default Oil pressure

Just installed my new motor ls2 built motor. Iv had no problems with it till one day i got into the car and all of a sudden the oil pressure started to read a little lower then normal. I checked the oil level and there was no problem there. gradually day after day once the car warms up the pressure is sitting at 15 psi. At startup its at 45 psi using 20w50 breakin oil. after a few minutes idling it starts to fall off. The engine sounds fine. and it drives fine. Do you think it would be a bad sensor? while at 15 psi if i just barely touch the throttle it jumps to 35 psi. cruising its sits in the 40 to 45 range. 190 degree engine water temps

That's my next move. I believe the oil pressure sensor is easy to get to so I may change that just in case.

My Ls2 gets down to 20psi too I think these built motors have more clearance. Let us know how the thinner oil does I run 20/50..

Hmmmmmm that's odd. Glad I'm not the only one in this boat. Going bring it to the tuner today. I'm going to let him check it out before I go wasting money on another oil change.

Motor builder said that pressure is just not right. He suggested I check the oil pickup tube and oring the oring is known to fail.

been there too. that lots of work to pull the pan.

do you always have low pressure or just at a hot idle. Mine is only when my oil gets above 230* so Im adding a cooler check this thread out!

When you change your oil cut the filter open with a knife and look for metal dust in the filter media that will tell you if your bearings are the problem.

Some thing is loose probably...a thicker oil should cause higher oil pressure , any air bubbles on you're dip stick ?
