Default Steering Column Swap/Weights

Does anyone know if it is feasible to swap out a telescoping steering column for standard (non-telescoping) column? Anyone have an idea of the weight difference between the two columns? I ask because my race car is a 1SC with most every option and I am researching ways to reduce weight. Converting to a 1SA without the telescoping column was one thing that came up. The car is a 2004 coupe.

I don't have the exact weight value but it cant be all that much. The only difference is a switch, wire harness, drive gear the telescoping shaft and the drive motor. Here is a picture of an 06 column drive motor which is very similar to the C5s motor.
