Steering wheel noise
I've got a noise in my steering while while rotating the wheel. Looking for some help.
the sound is coming from inside, I can hear it even when the car is standing still or even off if I try to rotate the wheel some.
it is not a groaning or squeaking which I think is more common.
it is like a clicking sound as the wheel goes around, pretty soft but definitely audible. no other steering issues.
if you've ever driven a GM truck with the "steering clunk" issue that plagued them for more than a decade, its a lot like that...but I'd say not as bad as what happens to the trucks.
could it be the clock spring or something like that making noise? my ears tell me it is coming from the wheel area, upper column. but its hard to know for sure of course.

sw noise
take off horn/airbag cover of sw. two 27 tork bolts hold it on , at
9 and 3 oclock. you will be working backwards, a mirror helps.
pull airbag fuse #16 under pass footboard, and disconnect battery.
wait 15 minutes. you also need to turn sw so bolts are at 12 and 6 oclock
for best access. take extra care to not strip heads. i used a tork ratchet
with about a 3" extension. i found a quarter coin in my 2001, prob not
your issue. good luck see pic
