Any of you guys use the mod that puts it down by the oil filter?
That sounds pretty slick to me.
I really got on the car a bit today and shortly after I noticed the gauge start to climb and just sit there. I was worried but it drives fantastic still. I really think its this damn sensor.
If I get a relocation kit do I need a special sensor? Or just buy a new C5 oil pressure sensor?

I saw this part illustrated in an LS engine build-up in Popular Hot Rodding magazine, which was recently cancelled. It looks very neat and cleans up the engine by putting the sender down low and out of the way.

The beauty of a relocator in either fashion, up top or the one that relocates it down by the filter, is the ease of swapping out the sensor. With that said, it now opens the door to run the less expensive sensors you can find at local parts stores. They come with a lifetime warranty and if it craps out, it is simple to pull it and swap it for a new one. As hard as a C5 is to get in the air, I think it is more convenient to have the relocator up top. Just pop the hood and it will be right there. Easier than lifting the car to get under it.

Great info all. Should I need to change mine out at some point, I will most likely do the relocation kit since it will make it easier for future repairs.

Electrical connection?
I am interested in the DIY relocation of the oil pressure sensor. If I stay topside, leaving the new sensor line at the front underside of the cowl (as shown in post # 26 ), do I need an extension to the stock wiring harness to get the electrical connector to reach the new sensor?

I just recently came across another way of relocation. www.TurnKeyEngineSupply.com has an adapter that mounts the sensor down near the oil filter on the side of the engine. Retails for around $30. I would investigate this if I ever have the problem. Lucky so far!
