Default Hawk Pads - Squealing

I put Hawk pads on about a month ago and now they are squealing at low speeds? Is there anything I can do to get rid of this annoying sound!!!???

Mine Squeal also. Join the Club! So much for the theory that they don't squeal! Guess What! They do. Also have the Baer Rotors. Love them hate the pads!

my00c5,

That's because your car is so darn fast that your squeal sound doesn't have a chance to catch up to your car!

In truth, it happens to some and doesn't happen to others! my00c5 happens to be on the other side of the fence! :bb

Most of the time it's due to an incorrect installation. You must follow the "burnishing" procedure instructions in the pad box to bed the pads properly. I've told people to deglaze the rotor and pad after removal and follow the "burnishing" procedure to eliminate the squeal even after installation. I would deglaze with 80 grit sandpaper lightly to get rid of the mirror finish. They don't call back after they reburnish them properly.

Mine are as quiet as the OEM pads and seem to dust less too. I followed the seasoning and bedding procedure to the T, I have the Baer EradiSpeed Enhanced rotors, HAWK HP streets pads. I know other's in my Club with this exact same set up and they are very happy with it.

But like most after market parts some folks get lucky others do not. Don't ask me how I like my Hurst shifter. I'd have to yell over all the noise it makes.

You can try to re-season/bed them, that might help?

I have the street pads on mine and for about a month I had one wheel squealing, AND YES I FOLLOWED THE PROCEDURE TO THE TEE. It has since stopped, they have been on since March. If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't buy the pads they really put out the dust. :mad

I have the Hawk HPS with eradispeeds. I was very concerned with the squealin' which was extremely loud. After completing the Baer eradispeed breakin procedure (seasoning), all squeaks were completely eliminated. I have 1200mi. on the pad/rotors.
