Default C5 Intake Manifold Question

I heard on the 2001/2002 C5 the intake manifold was replaced with the Z06 manifold...Is this true?

Are you guys talking about the complette intake manifold or just about the air filter cover. If you talk about the complette manifold, why doesnt the 01/02 C5s havent got much more ponys (than just the 5) from that ?

pkmoose, in CA the precats have always been. We did dyno runs before and after removal, no change in fact very little if any with all removed including main.

It's a bigger difference than you may think. We live in a world where people pay attention to peak horesepower/torque numbers and little else. To understand the magnitude of the difference between a '00 and '01 LS1, you need to evaluate the area under the horsepower curve. If you do this, you'll see that the changes from '00 to '01 broadened the torque curve, especially at lower rpm's (where you will feel the additional power in regular driving, not just aggressive driving). Keep in mind I'm not claiming the difference in the two motors is huge, but it is indeed bigger than the peak HP numbers would suggest to most people.

Cam's different too. To quote Chevy:
"Corvette engineers designed a new composite intake manifold with increased plenum volume and smoother-flowing intake runners. This increased volume of air, delivered to the combustion chamber with less turbulence, allows camshaft lift and overlap to be moderated. The result of the greater air volume is an immediate five-horsepower increase, and the modifications to the camshaft broaden the torque curve yielding a big boost in torque at the low end" - C.
