Default Question about side door bump rails

Can the O. E. body color side door bump rails be removed without damage? would there be holes or clip marks? Thx

YES! Use a hair drier and some fishing line. Its 3M adheasive strip attached. Just heat up a 12" section at a time and slide the heavy fishing line between the molding and door.

Use some adheasive remover to get the remaing stuff off the door

Use some medium compound to smooth the clear coat and polish

I took the rear trunk emblem off my ZO6 trunk that way:

If any of the body panels was ever painted, and the rub strips were just masked off, you'll have an ugly surprise.

My buddy Narco944 had some great tips on removing. He used a 3M wheel. Here is the link to the info.

They're called body side mouldings. If you'll go to Google and search BSM removal C5 you'll find pictures and instructions and cautions.
