Gas cap wont work
Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Meaning what exactly? Gas cap won't stay on tight? Won't screw on correctly? Is it the original or replacement?

Replace it.....Common problem not with just C5's..Do a Google search for
Chevy Gas Caps and you'll see ! Fairly cheap to replace....I just replaced mine this past summer because it wouldn't stay closed and locked.

Rock auto sells a Delco (OEM) cap with leash that works perfect. mine failed Emissions test for leaky cap, swapped this on and no problems.

SO sorry some days my brain is on r&r.....When i push the button to open the gas cap door, it wont open i have to open it from inside the trunk...

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh That's an entirely different story.
Mine was sticking so i sprayed some WD-40 into the mechanism and it freed it up...been good ever since.

Did you pull out the center console to make sure the plug for the gas door button was connected solidly?

No but i will try that...Could there be a fuse involved? I cannot find one for the gas release for the tank...

The fuse is labeled as the fuel door. Fuse 32 according to this thread:
