Default OPTIMA Presents How-To Tuesday: Corvette Back-Up Camera Installation

Corvette bumpers are designed to look good -- not to be used for actual bumping. Let's keep them that way with a back-up camera installation.

Installed a backup cam as part of my 2 Din Stereo with NAV upgrade. Camera displays on the Stereo screen. Makes backing into a parking space a breeze with the built in guidelines. Backing in has always been my preference since the car is low and allows you to see better when pulling out of a parking space plus if you pull in front first, you risk damaging the front on a cement parking stop. I have a 160 degree view camera that shows the cement stop, curb, poles or anything else. The ledge above the license plate was a convienent mounting place and there was already a cut out to run the wires to the backup lights & inside to the trunk.

Can backup cameras be installed with our existing factory Nav? I have a 2006 so i'm guessing no, and probably not even with the newer years. Any input would be great.

Edit. I have a C6Z. Wrong forum. Sorry

I put in a rear view mirror with backup camera and GPS since I use my old Note 2 as my stereo head unit instead of a double din.

It looks very nice and you didn't have to change the head unit!

What mirror did you use? Do you have link?

I got this one for 329.00 without the camera and cable because I had those from a Chinese mirror I had that died.

Returning stuff to China is forget about it so I got one from this US based company.

The one with the camera and cable is the same mirror but 429.00

The mirror is full if you don't use the GPS, Bluetooth or do not have it in reverse.

Here are all their mirrors
