Can any of you who did bigger bore motor jobs (no strokers) tell me about your experience? I'm looking at Norris's 388 bore motor as a possible worthwhile mod.
Corvette4ever- sorry to hear you are not happy with your resleeved motor. Katech has had 0 problems with their resleeved motors, thats why i went with them for my 427.
Morgan Motorsports built my 388 all-bore. I have about 2000 miles on it now. Had a small head gasket problem, but that had nothing to do with the resleeve and I don't think any future motors will have that problem. It's burned a little oil, but I think that's just break-in, doesn't have me too concerned. IMO I would trust only a couple of shops to do a resleeve.
MTI
ARE
MMS
Thse shops have the most experience. Generally ARE does a 4.080 or 4.1 bore. MMS likes the 4.125 (that's what mine is) and MTI is playing with a 4.155 bore. Call each shop and see what they say. Katech may have experience with them but I just haven't heard of too many folks on here with their resleeved blocks. They do have a ton of C5R experience though.
Even with a 229 cam my motor is very streetable. Under acceleration its very smooth, I think smoother than stock.
