Default My telescopic wheel isn't telescoping

When I fiddle with the switch nothing happening. Is there an inline fuse to that I can check? Anyone else had issues with this? Suggestions?

I'm a little nervous about getting into that steering column.

Nah. But if it's something simple I want to fix it.

No codes from using the DIC buttons to access them or no messages displayed on the screen?

You can try this, it has fixed your exact issue for others:

Telescoping Steering Column Calibration

Telescoping Soft Stop Programming Procedure

1] Turn ignition to ON, leaving the engine off.

2] To set the telescoping in soft stop, press the telescoping COLUMN IN switch at least eight times or until the column moves.

3] Press the telescoping COLUMN IN switch and hold the switch until the column travels all the way in, and continue to hold the switch about a second after motion stops at the mechanical end of travel. The soft stop for the column in position is now set. The seat control module automatically goes back to the normal mode of operation.

4] Repeat steps 2 and 3, using the COLUMN OUT switch, to set the column out position soft stop

What dadaroo says to do fixed mine years ago and is still working fine. Worth a try and does not cost anything.

Was it working before? I purchased mine without the column seat harness (replacements)... lead not hooked up. Used external 12v to adjust.

Absolutely worth a try. Thanks. I'll let you know how it goes. Worst that can happen is it's still like it is right now. And as pointed out its free to try.

My good friend Lucas. The Prince of Darkness.

I still remember a trip from Key West back to SC in my 60's MG. The fuel pump failed in Key west so we had to jumper the pump contacts and the passenger seat had the honor of tapping the wires together to keep the fuel pressure up on the drive home. Not the first pump I had installed either.

The next week I installed a Stewart Warner pump.

On a more serious note, if the effort to defeat the Prince of Darkness I suggested does not work I have something you can try for the moment. IF and IF the actual motor is good I can tell you what contacts to jumper to get it to move to where you want to leave it until you figure out what is wrong. I can help with that also.

Mine quit working recently while cleaning the car after I had a frayed towel get hooked around the switch and popped the switch cover off. I thought WTH am I hooked on then it came loose. That's when I noticed the switch cover lying on the floor. I snapped it back in place but it failed to telescope. Then I found the solution on here....did what was suggested....IT WORKED....And this boys & girls is a happy ending

Thanks for the feedback for others to learn.

The guidance I provided was from someone else and not original from me.

Weird, but it has helped resolve this for many persons.

I have had to do it two more times. Not really sure what causes it but I consider it a minor inconvenience. I'm just glad it is this easy (and free) to fix.
