Default Anyone switch their 2000-01 pup cat h-pipe to 02+

Instead of gutting my pup cats on my '01 I'd like to just swap out the entire h-pipe for a 02+

I had read here that the PCM would need to be recalibrated. Does anyone have any first hand experience with this?
The old style CATs used a single substraight or bick design. The new 2002 CATs use a two brick design, the front brick uses palladium and the rear uses a palladium-rhodium combo. The new CATs would also require changes to the PCM calibration if used on 2000-2001 year cars.

This information was acquired from the GM engineers Z06 press conference at Irwindale Speedway 2002.
I put 02's without pup cats on my 99 and got no codes even with shorty headers. You should be fine.

The only time you will need to worry is if you switch to a high flow cat or no cat. Even with high flow cats, sometimes you can get spacers for the o2 sensors to trick them so you don't get a code.

Worst case scenario you can get some o2 simulators.

That is such a a small change it wouldn't throw off the calibration enough to be noticeable to your power levels or fuel economy. I wouldn't be surprised if the engineers said that because the calibration needs some small changes to properly operate the CATS so the emissions stay within the limits under all operating conditions.
