Default Have I been waisting time this whole time with the steering rack??

I got to looking at the Vette this past weekend and started pulling it apart to remove the motor again and replace some things in the motor before spring. Its coming out of the top as usual. But normally I remove the steering rack before dropping the cradle. Got to looking at it and thinking and....I don't really need to remove the steering rack from the cradle once I disconnect the power steering lines, pump and ECBM do I? Anyone know of a reason Why I cant just leave it on the Cradle when I drop it and reinstall?

This would be one less step and it would save me about 45 mins prob. I feel like ive been waisting my time doing this each time I pull the motor. Any thoughts on this?

Just swapped the motor from the top on my vette last weekend. Didn't remove the rack and didn't disconnect any power steering hoses except the low pressure return hose from the rack to the reservoir. Unbolted the whole PS/Alt bracket and pushed it to the side, up against the driver's frame rail, then dropped the cradle.

With a stock harmonic balancer you don't, if you have a larger Fluidampr, you may have to pull the rack.

I pulled my motor from the top with the stock balancer and left the rack on the cradle. No problem at all.

Im gonna drop the cradle with it on this time. Then remove the rack with the cradle on the ground and reinstall it after I put the cradle back on. I think that will be the quickest and easiest way to still be able to get to the AC stuff and all.
