Bypass mod on stock c5 exhaust
Hey. I was curious if doing the bypass mod on a stock c5 exhaust would sound any good? Has anyone here done it? Does it change tone at idle/cruise/wot. Whats it comparable to? I've tried to search. But it's not working for me ! Thanks guys !!

Although I have Ti's, I often wonder this. So many people chop up the semi valuable Ti system, but the base model is worth just about nothing, and the end result should be almost identical in all respects apart from weight.
Both are 2 1/2", both should be about the same loudness/flow with the same bypass tube, and the cost (including welding ease) would be much lower.

I did the mod myself. First I had to teach myself how to weld the thin exhaust pipe with an arc welder. The practice pieces were not pretty but the final product turned out pretty good. The sound increase is subtle but I like it for a free mod.
The holes cut for the mod
Welded in a piece of old galvanized pipe from a bad trampoline
The final product.

I did it on mine and like it a lot. It only cost a couple of bucks and took a few hours. To be fair, I have longtubes, an x-pipe and high flow cats, so that's obviously going to change the tone a little. But even with headers there is zero drone, and it sounds decent.

Does anyone here know what kind of stainless that the stock exhaust is made out of. Stainless can be tig welded with conventional DC welders but titanium should be welded using a high frequency welder.
