Well I have not gotten very far on the mufflers. I had to pull off that project to throw some coilovers on the car and do some very minor prep work for a track day at Nelson Ledges. So I threw the factory ti mufflers back on, bled the brakes and headed to the track. I found a few minutes to scab together a bracket that hangs an external mic from the license plate mounting holes and was able to capture the sound well. The video quality is crap though and short as my phone got hot and shut down half a lap in. Of course this was at the end of the day and I didn't get another chance to capture more.

So, all I have to offer is this 30 second clip,

Yes, same factory cat back but without the X pipe. I'm pleased with the sound as is but would like to get it about an octave lower, hoping the new mufflers will make that happen.

Off topic: Looks like they did a good job with the new pavement. That place was scary as he11 a couple years ago.... SO bumpy...

I thought it was a little high in pitch too but it just reminded me of a formula one car.

What did people at the track think?

The new pavement is a drastic improvement but all my visual markers got covered up. Between that and being there in a car I have never driven in on track before I felt lost on my second home track. There is still a big dip after the bridge but that is a minor complaint considering the improvement in the surface. They are continuing to make it a much better facility, very nice to see improvements finally.

I really dig the current sound but it just doesn't quite fit the Corvette. A little more bass than treble should suit nicely.

No one commented but it is fairly quiet so not very noticeable. I did have two gents stop by asking about the external microphone rig but was in the middle of another conversation and didn't get a chance to talk with them for more than a couple of seconds.

Nice. The split 180* dual exhaust on a V8 does sound good. The sound you mentioned not liking before without the X-pipe was because of it being a 4 or 6 cylinder.

That was the 90 degree V6 that I swapped into my RX7. With the X pipe, it sounds quite good which is difficult to achieve in the world of GM 3800 engines.

It's difficult to achieve a good sound with most V6's (and most I4's too).

Any chance you've had that thing on the dyno? I'd be curious if there are any gains or if it changes the shape of the curves compared to traditional headers.
