Yesterday while driving home I noticed that the ACTIVE HANDLING message popped up in the DIC for a second and then was gone. Happened twice more.
Today it happened twice. This time I noticed the car pull towards the left slightly. Message went away. It pulled both times. I ended up turning it all off and finished the drive with no issues.
No codes at all. 02 z06. 19995 miles. Any insight?
Mine's doing the same thing. I just turn active handling/traction control off when I start the car. I'll be following this thread. Good news is it's less than $100 part. What's the skill level needed to switch it?
Steering Wheel Position Sensor getting ready to chit the bed. Pull the codes and post them. The codes of interest will be under 28 - TCS. However, the SWPS often does not set codes until it has a hard fail but worth a look at the codes anyway..........
No codes as of yet. I'll keep an eye out. Is it a common failure?
I just finished replacing the swps. Not too bad of a job, took about 2.5 hours. I didn't pull the whole column off, just out enough to slide the old off and the new on. I can see why I was having issues.
I didn't drive it yet but started it up and let it run a little. Turned the wheel several times lock to lock and then several fast. No codes. Cycled act handle and TCS on and off.
During the removal of the column, this fell from somewhere. Plastic.
Can't be too important. Right??
Anyway, thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I'll update with success or failure.
