Default Need advises on Water Pump and Thermostat

Hello,

I found some drops of antifreeze on the front spring but nothing around the water pump, belt is dry, pulley too !!! It looks clean and dry
So I did a search on Rockauto and found two models from AC Delco, 252-846 and 251-744. They look similar but the second one is more expensive.
What is the difference between them ?
If I take the 252-846, which thermostat housing fits ? Do I have to change it, can I use the OEM one ?
The car has only 20k, 14 years old....so I'm going to change the thermosat at the same time. Which one do you recommand ?
Thanks for your help
Jean-Michel

Here is a link to a recent discussion on this topic. The 251-744 pump seems to be a redesign and has a smaller hole for the inlet.

The AC Delco 251-744 pump accepts AC Delco 15-11057 thermostat and inlet assembly.

The picture of the pump in post #6 in the link above is the one I had installed two weeks ago on my 1998 coupe. It is the older (less expensive) version, you can reuse your old thermostat and neck or replace the thermostat separately if you want. Here is the Rock Auto info from my invoice.

1998 CHEVROLET CORVETTE 5.7L V8
ACDELCO 252846 (252-846@T04-OSTK) Water Pump 1 $ 93.79
ACDELCO 12T121D (12T121D@F22) Thermostat 1 $ 16.36
Shipping Ground $ 8.99
Order Total $ 119.14

Default 15 PSI or 18 PSI radiator cap

Hello,
On my radiator cap is written 15 PSI instead of 18 PSI like it is indicated on the OEM 25713160 cap RC87. What is the right one please ?
Thanks

The cap pressure changed with new models.. I believe the 18 psi is a better choice.
I've never had an issue with my 15 psi (2000 model) but of lot of guys have
gone to the newer 18 psi to help with cooling gremlins
