Default Tech 2

I just bought a tech 2 scanner and am learning to use it. Does anyone have one they use?
I wondered if I have any questions about something with it if anyone would be able to help me figure out it's use if I need help.

Where did you get it and what did it cost?

I need one to tell my `03 with leaky shocks that it no longer has the F45 package once I put in the new Z06 shocks . . . hopefully, that's not hard to do . . .

It's a clone but so far has worked good. I bought it off ebay for $375 and it came with everything.

I am getting a new instrument cluster. It is a new one GM NOS so the odometer is going to 000000000.

Can I program MY mileage into it with the tech 2? or am I going to have to pay the dealership

yes the dealer can do it, they have a web based app to set the new panel, but check with them first, they will want to verify mileage.

So if I bought an instrument cluster on ebay that has hypothetically say 120,000 miles on it will it plug in and work fine except the mileage on the odometer being wrong.
I am an old man and am not ever selling the car and plan on keeping it till I die so the odometer don't matter to me as long as all the gauges work.

It seems logical to me that the new-to-you cluster would display what the car's ECU knows to be it's mileage and not what was displayed in a previous installation.

BUT-- that's just my logic that may have absolutely no foundation in fact.

Good luck-- it'll be interesting to see how it works out- good luck and thanks for the info on the Tech 2.

The PCM does not track the odometer. If you swap instrument clusters, the mileage on the cluster is what will be displayed.

I will go in a couple of weeks wne I get my disability check and get it programed. I put it in already so I would have a working speedometer till then as it is my daily driver.
It was funny to see the odometer read "0 Mi."
