Default Exhaust install alignment frustration

I am installing the Magnaflow 16732 catback on my 98 and got the driver side on so far. The back part of the outter tip is touching the inside of the bumper. I loosen everything to adjust, but when tighten the bolts onto the H pipe, the tips get pulled upwards everytime and that part touches the bumper. Super frustrating. Any advice?

16732 doesn't have the plate. Been reading about people shimming the hangar. Can someone explain to me how to do this and with what?

Problem solved. Turns out I was just being a little bitch and wasn't tightening the clamp hard enough when I was had it in the desired position. About half an inch clearance now as recommended.

Rotate the left side of the muffler down before you tighten.
