Knock sensors - oil in the hole?
Hi everyone - I'm coming over from the C1/C2 Forum - since I have a 61 Restomod with a 2001 LS6 engine. My check engine light is on, and I'm getting the dreaded error message "Knock Sensor - Bank 2".
So, I order two new GM sensors and tear off the intake. The wiring is fine, but the rear sensor has oil on the connector and Down in the hole. I know this didn't come in from the top of the valley cover - the sensor was tight.... So do I need to replace seals on the Valley cover?
This isn't a 20 minute job, so I don't want to button it all back up and then get the code again.
Ideas?
Thanks.

Ok, I went all in...
Bought Felpro gaskets - and first thing I ran into was the Valley cover was an aluminum gasket with the rubber attached to it - vs the cover it'self - which had an intact rubber seal glued to it. So.. I pressed out the remaining round seals, and installed the two new ones. I decided to just install the valley cover with the intact gasket, as it wasn't leaking, and I wasn't sure if I should scrape it off for the new Felpro one.
Installed the wiring harness - will replace the gaskets on the intake, and button her up.
One good thing about this process - I discovered an open vacuum port below the large port for the power brakes. Plugged that up.
Thanks for your help

Any one recognize this ?
So I'm carrying my LS6 intake out the door (to dump the gas) and I feel this little plastic piece hit my shoe... (see pictures - included a knock sensor for size comparison)
I don't see anyplace for it on the intake, and I don't remember pulling off a wire connector with anything like it.
Any ideas?
Thanks
