My new EBCM did show up late today. (8-15/17)
Correct part numbers on the box. All looks brand new and a new sensor was also included. Should know soon if this EBCM will resolve my issues and codes.
A cautionary install paper was included in both German and English

At this time I don't know all the details. I should have the shop's sequence of events tomorrow.
What follows may be much more info than you wanted. But it will help me to get it all down together ;^)
Before I took it in my 03 was repeatedly throwing codes.
C1284 Lateral Accelerometer Circuit
C1287 Steering Position Sensor Circuit
B2795 Suspension Control Select Switch Circuit Malfunction
I worked on trying to trace the faults with GREAT help from Bill Curlee.
Found some wires under the center console that had some small nicks in them, which I repaired, but none were broken. After this the B2795 Suspension Control Select Switch Circuit Malfunction went away and did not return.
BUT it was replaced by the dreaded 28-TCS C1284 and C1287 codes ;^(
and the C1284 Lateral Accelerometer Circuit and C1287 Steering Position Sensor Circuit codes remained as well
At this point, I was too frustrated to continue. And I had an ongoing high-temperature issue with my A4. So, I decided to bite my wallet and took the 03 into a local performance shop that I have had good results from in the past and have them continue the process.
They replaced the Steering Position Sensor Circuit and that killed the C1287 code. Not sure yet what else they have done but they were unable to get the 28-TCS C1284 and C1287 codes to not return.
My shop then sent in my EBCM to have it repaired.
They didn't use ABSFixer but a shop they have used many times for the same repair.
When the "repaired" EBCM returned, it was installed. But the codes returned. So they pulled the "repaired" EBCM and sent it back. A week later it returned marked "non-repairable".
At this point, I told them that I thought I could still get a new replacement EBCM. So I went online and found the AC Delco unit and ordered it from Amazon. It arrived today, but too late to get it over to the shop before they closed, so I will take it tomorrow.
Not looking forward to the bill that is coming
Will post up what happens next...............

Problems fixed! I hope so!
Well, folks, the recent issues with my codes and trans temps may have come to a happy ending, at least let us hope so.
I want to sincerely thank all who offered their knowledge and suggestions to me during this.
For those interested, here is a rundown of what has occurred since I sent my 03 50th to a local performance shop last month.
Here are the two issues I wanted to be fixed after trying and failing to fix them myself
Transmission heat issue:
Shop reported that they found the trans was 3/4 of a quart low, fluid was clean, no smells, not discolored. They topped it off. Drove several trips on days in the 90s and saw trans temps of 174-178.
At my request, they hooked up a Tech2 and checked the trans data to see if TCC was locking and unlocking. Data verified that the TCC was working properly.
I drove the 03 home in 80-degree weather over several hills and stop and go. Trans temp was 133 when I started the car, temps rose during the drive to about 178 and stayed there for most of the trip. In the last 6-10 miles of slow in traffic driving the temp reached 185.
I will continue to monitor the trans temps.
------------------------------------
Code issues & EBCM
Shop replaced the SWPS which resolved the c1287.
But codes c1284, c1285 lateral yaw sensor remained.
Tech removed the passenger seat to access the lateral g sensor. Tested the sensor, the sensor was good.
Tech checked the wiring from lateral yaw sensor connector to EBCM. Wiring had an Open somewhere.
Removed radio and HVAC module found a wire that was rubbed through. Repaired the wire and retested, code 1284 yaw sensor still present. Tested the wiring and it was good.
Swapped the EBCM for a known good test module, code was gone with test module. EBCM needed to be rebuilt or replaced.
Shop sent my EBCM to the shop they had used many times for EBCM rebuilds. When the rebuilt EBCM returned it was installed but failed to function correctly.
They called me with this news and I purchased a new ACDelco EBCM. The new ACDelco EBCM resolved all the remaining code issues.
I will continue to monitor codes.
Again, thanks so much for all who shared their knowledge with me!

I did wonder if I was just putting out too much detail.
I hope you are correct about the issues being resolved.......time will tell.

Couldn't have done it without your help
But I am still trying to find the cause for my high A4 temps. Nothing I have done has really made much difference to date.

Thanks so much for your time and patience Bill,
