Default A4 Dyno Numbers with 2 mods

I had my '98 A4 dynoed this morning at Colvins in Austin. Current mod's include Corsa Daytona's and Blackwing. I'm a little disappointed as I thought I'd get around 300hp :(

Not sure what to make of the torque as it varied greatly from the two pulls. Any idea what may have caused this wide gap between the pulls?

Temp. was around 77 and humidity was probably around 40-50.

Would I notice any gains with an LS1 edit?

Sorry about the image. I have no scanner so I had to photograph it.

One thing on the plots: as far as peak numbers, look at the plots above 4000 rpm's once everything is settled out, not the printed peak numbers. Notice how the second peak TQ number is quite a bit higher than the first reading. That is the spike at the first (3700 roms). Actually, the TQ and HP are pretty close all the way accross the range (3800 and up).

I have been fooled by this before. On the A4's, you get spikes like that, I guess by the Torque converter operation.

I felt the same way. The spike was probably a dyno glitch. I would guess you are in the mid 290's for both rwhp and rwtq. The A4's lose about 20% so you are right where your mod's say you should be. Most stock C5's run very close on the hp/tq numbers. The Donaldson's are running a consistant 15-20. Exhaust IMO is negligable in terms of producing more HP. Not bad numbers...just more room to grow :D

Your TQ is right on the money. Did you drive your car hard or soft on the way to the dyno?

Those numbers are in line for a '98 A4
Mine did 276 stock soon after I bought it in 98 and 297.9, 296.1, 306.4 in January of this year. I have a Proflow+ and Borla XR-1 and Jan. some HPP3 powertuning. It would be helpful if you had air fuel ratios during the dyno.

Highway driving about 50 miles to dyno center. Averaging 75mph.

Taking a look at the graph again, it certainly appears consistant, other than the initial spike.
I had heard that you loose 18-20% on the A4 drivetrain. I guess this would mean I have about 362hp. Since the Corsa doesn't really increase hp, looks like the Blackwing was a pretty good investment..... 17hp +/- :D

I think the next mod's on my agenda are the 3.42 gears, SY3500, Transgo, Tranny cooler, and FLP headers. Doubt I'll be able to do it for at least a couple months as my wife is already complaining about the S/C install on the Z3

What about a more aggressive Cam (212/218, .522/.529 114 lobe)? Those are fairly inexpensive and I don't think it would require software modification..... Or would this require heads as wells?

Thanks!

The spike is from the auto downshifting into 2nd. Mine did the same thing now that I have my auto shifting at 6100 rpm. They just cut it off. Your next mod should be the Z06 intake manifold and tpis headers, I picked up 30 rwhp and 35 rwt.

Not to bad, you are in the ball park! Depends on your goals, some engine mods will help.
