Default Red Top died today.

Well it was a nice sunny cold dry day so I thought I would go for a ride. My car is in an unheated garage but always hooked up to a battery tender. Even though I've had no previous starting problems this was our first cold spell and the red top is 10 years old. Can any of you recommend a good online source where I can order a replacement ? For a reference I have a red top model 34-78. It's been good so I'll get another one. Thanks

I usually go to the parts store for the warranty.

I thought I would have to order online to save some money but I think O'Riley Auto will get my business.

I bought mine at Battery Plus. It was less expensive than Autozone. I did pick up the battery at the store.

I usually shop on line for parts. With the battery I would be worried about getting a dud or one that sat on the shelf too long and not being able to return it.

Ten years, a bit long in the tooth?

Maybe consider a yellow top this time? Higher reserve rating than the red top. Just a thought.

My car is always hooked up to a battery tender also and the Red Top died. After I replaced it with a new one, the new one died in three days.

Turned out that the old Red Top was fine, but the driver's seat switch suddenly drained it.

To check for battery drain, search "battery drain", it might save you the cost of a battery.

That said, ten years is very good life.
