The net tax on the bill was 24.8% (376.69/1517.75). Wow. Is it legal to pay tax on something that you are not paying for? I would check to make sure. When I have had extended warranties in the past I never paid tax on things that were covered.

It might be just be a mistake. Dealers don't care if the math is correct as long as they come out ahead.

I recently bought some parts through dealer with a coupon I got in the mail. First the parts department didn't know how to use the coupon. Six people later they said I had to pay for it at the service dept. The bill was a little more than I expected and I asked the girl to tell me all the prices. She gave me the part prices and said there was also tax. I paid for it and left. When I got home I was looking at the receipt and noticed I paid $14 for "shop supplies". I stewed for a while then decided to go back and have them remove the charge. The girl at the parts counter started to tell me to go to service, but she realized it was a stupid thing they did, so she took care of it.

Never thought about that, I will go by there after christmas and ask the question. I'm just used to paying alot of taxes here. Thanks for the insight

I had the 1214 on my 03 Coupe when I bought it with 109K plus miles on it. Took the ECBM apart and re soldiered the relay joints on the circuit board. Have not had that come up again in the last 7000 miles.
Sales tax in my city is a touch over 10% with Fed, State, Parish and City tax involved.
When I buy a vehicle I auto add 10% to it in my head as my total cost ( not including insurance)

Whats worse is that most issues can be fix by jacking the rear of the car off the ground and initiating the system. 9 out of 10 times is a lack of use the cause the pump to lock up.

Start it, put it in gear and not foot on the brake pedal.

What I have seen happen numerous time is that,The pump freezes up if the system is not used. If you jack the rear off the ground. Both wheels, then start the car up step on the brakes and put it in gear.slowly release the brakes and let the speedo indicate about 10 MPH, Clutch if manual. You should hear the pump come on or trying to come up. Even if you don't hear the pump on the first couple of time continue to do this about five times. If you do here the pump keep doing this until the pumps comes on when wheel start spinning and goes off when they stop. Once you hear the pump,Take about a minute or two in between tries to let the pump cool off. The pump is pretty loud normally. This has worked for me after two years of driving around with the light on and on other corvettes. Has worked 80% of the time. It worth a tried.

Even on the street it doesn't seem hard to light up the ABS system.

Go out on a wide open road, get up to 60-70mph, and just stand on the brakes. Works every time I've tried.

This is good to periodically exercise the system but not so well when the pump gets frozen from long period without been exercise.
