6.0L swap possibly
As my stock engine has an 80% leakdown on cyl #1 (still runs fine for back and forth to work but when pushed squirts out the rear main) I'm heavily leaning toward a GM Performance 6.0 crate engine. Cammed they can be had complete for just over 7k dollars. Seems like a bargain. Only problems I see are slight modifications that will need to be made to the harness and the reluctor wheel. I see that Lingenfelter has a plug in box of some sort to deal with the reluctor wheel issue. As this is a significant investment I'm looking for anyone who has tried this. Not to put to fine a point on it but I'd like to benefit from your trials and experience.
I already have a 1000 horsepower rated rear end from ZIP racing as well as McLeod dual plate Clutch and McLeod flywheel. So I think I'm good there.
It just seems like by the time I rebuild the stock 5.7 the right way am within spitting distance of the 6.0.
Any guidance is appreciated. I know I've asked about this before but I'm a lot closer to action now and could really use advice. I'm in the phoenix area if you also have suggestions on anywhere to go locally that may be a good alternative to just ordering a crate engine.

Ditto, there's a dealer here that has 17 in stock with an advertised price of $6200. I would imagine similar pricing can be had elsewhere. Or order the 525hp hotcam crate if you're looking for the crate engine route.

Talk to Bret (blownbluez06 or something like that) or Texas Speed. You can get what you need without the conversion box and pay less. Lots of research but there are a crap load of options.

It's a fluke that I even have to fool with this. My 5.7 only has 106k. Been meticulously maintained. Clean as a whistle inside and out. And it's bone stock. Looks like the piston in that cylinder flaked a bit and scored one small spot on the cylinder wall. These usually go a couple hundred thousand from everything I've read here. Guess I'm just lucky. Lol.

Hey neighbor! I would consult with Cordes Performance Racing in Tempe. They do this type of work all day long, and specialize in late model GM performance vehicles.

Another local option, and probably cheaper, would be Doug Bromley at Bromley's Corvettes. He does all the work on my car.

Appears to be some good options there, depending on what you can swap over. I imagine you would also need intake manifold. I would be very tempted by the 418 (LS3 with 4" stroke).

we could help you out on this sir, however I will say I absolutely hate running that lingenfelter reluctor box. Their failure rate is crazy, best bet is get a bare 6.0 or 6.2 and build it w/ the right reluctor or have us swap it on that gm 6.0 you'll thank me later.

sorry for the ignorance, but what is the problem with just swapping your stuff over to the 6.0? i used to own a 98 t/a with h/c/i and i spun a bearing in my 5.7, bought a junkyard 6.0 and just swapped my h/c/i setup over to it and reinstalled it in the t/a without any issues.
