Default Factory Fog Light Operation?

Hi,

This might sound dumb but I don't know how are the factory fog lights are supposed to operate and how to switch them on/off. Never had a need for them really. I tried playing with the headlight control switch **** and was never able to turn them on.

You'll find the on/off button on the left just above the hatch release button. Glows yellow when on. I believe you have to at least have your parking lights on for them to function.

Ah, that explains it now. I don't have that button on top of the latch button. My latch button switch lacks that fog light switch altogether. Maybe it was replaced at some point by the non-fog light option latch switch.

The 2004 model is the only year that fog lights were standard in all models per the Corvette Black Book. In 1999, the option is listed as T96. Do you have T96? Look in glove box door to see the various codes for your vehicle. If no T96 code is listed then it appears the fog lamps were added by a PO. Suggest looking underneath the dash cover and maybe there is a switch for the lamps.

Confirmed. No T96.

You have a 1999 with no T96 and no foglight switch, are you sure your car has foglights installed? Sometimes one takes something for granted and in the end it might be things are different, especially when there's been no need to look for it before.

If you have no foglights, adding them is not complicated. All the wiring is already in place, except the harness between the underhood fusebox and the foglight reflectors. You just need to do the final connecting leg, add the reflectors and swap the switch
