Are all DTC's the same?
For all C5 Corvettes including ZO6's? I came up with a PO 440 HC on the ZO6 and I haven't been able to locate a listing for that code.
Thanks for any help.

Yes, all DTCs are the same for all C5s. P0440 is not listed for my 1998 Coupe either, but P0441 and P0443 are EVAP codes, i.e. the evaporative emission system. Hope this helps.

Gary - My 2001 service manual shows P0440 is set for failure of the EVAP system large leak test. The fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor is used to test the system for vacuum leaks. The PCM turns the purge valve on and off to pull a vacuum on the EVAP canister. Then the FTP is used to monitor the leak down rate. This code can be set by a loose fuel filler cap or leaks in the EVAP hoses. :seeya

P0 codes are Global OBD 2 codes. They will be the same for all vehicles. That code would be the same if it were on a civic as if it were on a Corvette.
P1 codes are enhanced obd 2 and can differ, but not normally.
P0440 - EVAP Emission Control System Malfunction
When I got the code...I did as mentioned earlier....tighten gas cap.

Thanks for the help guys. The other night after clearing the code I went for a long ride and no light reappeared. I just now checked the gas cap and it was tight. I wonder if the clickies on the gas cap need to be recalibrated, I always turn it four or five clicks. :D
So these new Corvettes pop up a check engine light if your gas cap is loose? Absolutely amazing!

Well, I guess I have a problem. Just took a trip to the store and the code is back. Since it's a high mileage car with 1153 miles, I should expect to run into minor repair work from here on. :nonod:

I have exactly the same problem. I've tightened the gas cap, even replaced it. I know it's just some BS emission thing but the light is annoying.I was hoping there was something out there to try. Oh Well.... :-(
