Default grandsport rims on c5

I have found a set of 2012 grand sport rims I want to put on my 2004 base convertible. What mods have to be done?

12" width GS wheels are going to poke. It's not a proper fit. People do run them on C5s but that doesn't mean they're "fitting" properly. An affordable way to possibly rectify it some is get C6 style splash guards. That would at least visually close it up some with the added benefit of protecting your front fender/door areas from debris from the pushed out fronts.

Newbie here,
I have been looking for an answer to my question, but can't find it. I know this has been covered probably a million times, but I would like to know if 5-spoke C6 wheels will fit on a C5 Coupe without any modifications or spacers. Thanks in advance.

it would look akin to this.

Unless this is the look you're going for, I would use spacers/adapters.

Forget the outside appearance for a moment.

The C6 is +79 rear offset and the C5 is +65. If my calculation is correct, the C6 wheel on a C5 is 1.3" closer to the suspension. Does it rub or get dangerously close on the inside?

JDMvette: Your car looks good. Can you show us a full side view with the C6 wheels?

That was an ooooooooold pic when I first put on flared quarter panels before I got my 19x12 wheels to fill the wheel wells.

The point I was trying to make was that C6 wheels will be too tucked inside a C5 rear and need to be pushed out to look right.

jdmvette -- OK, thanks. I understand your point.

8VETTE7 -- Thanks. That's the last time that I will attempt to calculate converting mm to inches in my head.

One major reason many forum members re-ask the same ol' questions over & over is that many Corvette venders have order-takers answering the phones and when asked a specific question about fitment their reply is "...it should". That happened to me late last week when I called a vender about wheels for my C5.

I'm not willing to spend lots of hard earned bucks on Vette stuff unless I can be confident that it will fit.

The other is the forum search isn't exactly the greatest. I use Google to search the forum:

You can always simply buy C6 Grandsport style wheels made specificlly for the C5. I think they look great on the C5. Here, I have 18 in wheels on both front and rear of this car. I think the 18 in wheels in front tend to fill the wheel well much better. But, that's me.

gpruitt54 --

Looks great. What size tires do you have front/rear?

I looked at the other pics of your C5 and it looks like you have plenty of room in the wheelwells.

Thanks. There are 18 inch wheels. Tires are 275/40 R18 rear and 245/40 R18 front, General G-Max. The car is also lowered on the stock bolts about 50% (This photo was taken before I lowered it), but I can loser it much more with plenty of room under the fenders.

These wheels are not directly from a C6 Grand Sport. They are designed for the C5 and styled after the C6. However one of the guys in my Vette club installed wheels and tires from a standard C6 coupe and they fit well and did not stick out.

I love these wheels for street, I also Autocross with these wheels with no issues at all.

I have C6 Z06 wheels on my 02 with no rub. Honestly the biggest drawback to me has been the price of the tires. I ended up with them when my third stock 5 spoke rear cracked. I replaced the whole set out of frustration. The stockers kept cracking where the spoke joined the rim. I was offered the spyders by a friend at a price I couldn't pass up. No rubbing although the rears are very tight on the inside. The Goodyear's that were on the rims when I bought them were the run flat variety and they did poke a bit. The pilot super sports fit nicely.
