Driver side rear
Hi guys. I’m new to the forum and still figuring out how to post. I was told by the previous owners body man that a adjustable upper control arm will square up the rear as it should be. It’s a salvage 04 Targa Top. 40,000. I have pics of ore-rebuild that I’ll be posting once I get familiar with the forum.

So you want to have asymmetrical suspension to compensate for a bent frame? Sounds like a plan.

Mark, are you talking about drivability or looks. If you are talking about drivability, take it to an alignment shop. Could be just a couple of turns on your tie rods.

Sorry, I’m new to the forum and just realized how stupid that sounded. Obviously had I said to the guy, if the frame is not bent like you say, why not just get a factory control arm.... didn’t want to call the guy out. After all it was t my car yet.

Definetly drivability. No sense in getting the mods I want if the car isn’t as safe as it should be. It had a front end alignment just before I picked it up. I wasn’t impressed

Find a good frame shop in your area and have them check it out. The will let you know if there is a frame problem, suspension component problem, etc. It could just be your have -1.5 rear camber that is causing that gap. On my autocross C5 I run -1.2 rear camber with 0 toe and have little to no uneveness in wear or ride comfort. (The fronts have -2.2 camber and 0 toe with 7.4 caster). Even with extreme alignment it still rides very well driving to events around the state.

1. get the frame checked this is an absolute must..

2 before you go, take a look at the upper control arm bushings to see if they have "rocked forward" somewhat .... this is usually more of a problem with the front end of the cars but can happen with the rears.... enclosed is a video from LG motorsports that shows how much "walk" the rubber bushings have over their solid (road race only) bushings.

Let's slow down here a little. I do believe that all C5s have an offset in the rear tires that are not symmetrical. I would do a little research on some known good cars before I panicked too much. I can check my wheel spacing out when I get home, but I can assure you they are not equal on both sides.

Should have been a 4 wheel alignment, also since a salvage car is it possible the rear cradle is not straight.
