After finding multiple needle bearings on my drain plug I took the valve covers off to find a few rocker arm bearings chewed up. keep in mind these were upgraded by the previous owner with the snap ring style trunions. I have taken the heads off the car and dropped the lower pan to find any more floating around. I re-measured for pushrod length and found that the 7.4 pushrods that were installed are about 75 thou too long. Car is cammed btw. Additionally I noticed the pistons in the engine have valve reliefs I always thought OEM pistons were flat top. Previous owner did not mention anything about built bottom end on the build sheet. Pistons are flat top. Here's an article showing pictures of 2001 and 2002 Z06 pistons.

Pushrod length should have been double checked at the time the cam was installed. Sounds like the PO (if that's who added the cam and perhaps changed the pistons) did not double check.

Are you sure the pistons have true valve reliefs in them? A lot of cam installs have valve reliefs cut into the pistons while still in the car.

Sorry to hear that. I went with the Straub trunnion kit. Solid bushings, so no needle bearings to worry about. Very nice kit.
