BUT,,,,,,,,,,,,, If it were me, I would remove the one in there NOW and test it just like the Vid.

I like to PROVE the fault.

Still could be ignition switch or wire moving and shorting.

Dennis, double check wiring while you're at it.

Here was the culprit: A pinched wire. Easily fixed once I opened the harness and looked for it.

The PINK wire is 12 VDC Switched power for one bank of coils.

SUCKS HARD to have to drive the car on SIX CYLINDERS when that fuse blows!!

So, If it threw code PO118 (high voltage) with the connector disconnected, and connected with paperclip, and PO117 (low voltage) with the sensor completely disconnected, Does that deem like the prob. is in the sensor? Thanks, D, P. S. The thing that throws me , is how it will run fine for 3-400 miles each time before prob pops up again?

CRAP!!! Went out to take car for drive, Turned Key, would not start, Ran codes. NO CODES! Tried again. Started , ran normal, But DIC read oil temp low! Still no codes, all other gauges normal seems to be running normal. Just says oil temp low. hope this will gave us a hint to the prob. Things def. changed after the new coolant temp sensor installed, Maybe time to think ign. switch. ?? Thanks again !!! D.

Just went back Car hes. then started oil temp normal, all other temps normal had code PO118C. Shut off, Started back up, Everything normal, Code gone. Waited few minutes went out started normal, no codes, Thinking ign. switch more possible all the time, it has been the only moving part this morning so far.

Ignition switch I'm willing to bet due to the fact you get a no start here and there.

Ordered new AC Delco ign. switch from Rock Auto. Should be here in 4-7 days. What is the trick to getting key cylinder out of old switch and into new one? Don`t want to mess it up! Thanks, D.

Here's the writeup on ignition switch from the Man, the Legend, Mr. Curlee.
Scroll down the post and you'll find instructions on removing the switch.

Thanks guys! I just need to know if there is a trick to getting the key cyl. out of old switch, and into the new one? Might there be instructions with the new switch? I saw a post where the guy had all the little parts fall out of the cyl. when he got it out. Thanks so much for all the help!!! P. S. What do you guys think the odds are that the switch is the prob.? After all the symptoms I have had. D.

Remove the entire Cylinder/switch assy from the dash. Put the key into the cylinder, turn it to ON/RUN.

There is a small tab inside a small window on the plastic body of the assy. Press in on that tab and the lock cyl will come out.

Switch being the cause of the lssue. Scale of 1-10 10 being 100% the cause: My rating = 1.5

Dennis this all started after header install an tune. Then a 200 mile run to Lone Pine. Damaged wires are a good chance. You were sometimes able to get things going after moving wires in left door. My 2 cents.

Ok Bill, here is the latest. Went out, started car, everything, normal, All temps normal, let run 10 minutes or so, Everything good. Shut off, and restarted few times.no probs. all temps good. Backed out to go around block, Got about few hundred feet, car misfires, oil temp on DIC. reads LOW. Went around block missfired a few times, Got in garage, left running, ran codes NO CODES! Shut off and restarted 3-4 times started normal, but oil temp still LOW! maybe the 4th. or 5th. time shutting off and starting oil temp back to normal! 180 deg. or so. Still no codes. couple more on & off`s and still everything is good. its a new oil temp sensor. couple months ago. D. The oil temp sensor wires are pretty close to the headers, But looked good when I replaced the sensor.
