Default Aux on 1999 C5

Hi all,

I’ve searched high and low but can’t seem to find a 100% answer....
I have a 1999 with an original single CD headunit and NO CD changer. I wish to add an AUX input (ie 3.5 mm minijack). I’ve seen a lot of nice write-ups on this topic concerning cars WITH CD changer - but I’m unsure whether these are relevant for my car.
Does anybody know this ? Or can anybody direct me to a write-up specific for a 1999 W/O CD changer ?

Tons of thanks in advance,

Ok, you're gonna want this:
Amazon Amazon

And you're going to want to follow this:
http://www.toquez06.com/ipod.html

I realize thats for an iPod but its essentially the same process. Ignore his fix for constant draw, as a 3.5MM will not draw any power. The hardest part is getting the headunit out as the harnesses don't have much slack. Make sure to switch the dip switches on the back. #3 and #8 you want to be turned to "ON". Make sure to test thoroughly before reassembly.

There is also a writeup somewhere around here on drilling into your headunit for a stock AUX look but I opted for this, was extremely easy, and the audio quality is great.

Let me know if you have any questions, I too was confused as to what exactly I should do to add AUX, but it turned out to be pretty simple!

Well this is interesting. I didn't know they had something like that selling for these radios. There is also a Bluetooth receiver that has RCA and 3.5 mm jacks on Amazon for around 20 dollars. I'm sure someone creative could add an aux jack and Bluetooth capability to their own Bose system for around 100 bucks. If I knew this I probably wouldn't have ripped out my entire bose system last week.
